Tomás Melgar, new director of the Alicante-Elche airport

Tomás Melgar Noguera arrives at the Alicante-Elche airport management after taking up the same post at Menorca airport, which will be exercised by Eva Valenzuela Martí as from 1 June. 

Born in Palma de Mallorca, Tomás Melgar Noguera is an Aeronautical Engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and has completed the General Management Program (PDG) at IESE. 

He began his professional career at Aena in 1994, in the Engineering and Maintenance area of Palma de Mallorca airport, where he later became head of the Programming and Control section, head of the Management Cabinet and head of the Operations division. 

 According to the press release e Aena, Tomas Melgar Noguera has carried out "an important work at the airport of Menorca, highlighting, among other projects, the implementation of the collaborative work system in airport management, automating and monitoring all airport processes".

It has certified this airport under the established technical standards and has achieved "outstanding recognition for the infrastructure, such as the EMMAS AWARDs, awarded by the European Commission for its environmental management, as well as a high quality rating by its customers,"he says. 

For his part, Santiago Martínez-Cava will replace Alberto Martín Rodríguez, who has been appointed director of Planning and Investment at London-Luton airport, managed by Aena, as the director of Gran Canaria airport. 

Born in Madrid, Santiago Martínez-Cava is an Aeronautical Engineer by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, has completed the General Management Program (PDG) of IESE and the Executive MBA of the Instituto de Empresa.

He joined Aena in 1994 in the Engineering and Maintenance area of Palma de Mallorca airport, then became head of the Electricity and Beaconing section of that airport installation, head of the Engineering and Maintenance department in Menorca and head of the Almeria and Alicante ones. 

Aena's press release assures that "Santiago Martinez-Cava has done a great job at Alicante airport", where he was responsible for the "commissioning of the new terminal in March 2011, as well as the successful transition in the change of operator control tower It has also obtained the airport certification and achieved high levels of perceived quality, facing a significant growth in air traffic during these years", emphasizes the communiqué.
